Dinner Hobble Belt

Dinner Hobble belts were once commonly used by stockmen and drovers as they rode behind a mob. These belts doubled as knee hobbles for their horses when stopping to rest or eat, to ensure that he’d still be around when they went to catch him after lunch! With highest quality buckles and rings, these belts are completely hand stitched for added strength using first grade bridle leather. We can make these in either 1 ¼” (32mm) or 1 ½”(38mm) width, and with your choice of brass or stainless steel fittings. We usually make the stitching in a colour to match the leather but can also make a contrasting stitch if preferred; available colours are Black, Brown, Cream and Gold just let us know if you have a preference.

If the primary use is as a hobble we recommend the reinforced style, and to ensure your horse is accustomed to hobbles first. In addition to these, we also make true chain hobbles, quick release and sidelines.

If you’d like to add a pouch, we can make these to match! Our standard slip-on pouches are made to suit up to most 4″ pocket knives and have a buckle for closure; if you’d prefer a different size, style or a press stud please ask. We also make our Hobble Belts with fixed pouches, although we don’t recommend these if you do intend to use your belt as a hobble in case your horse takes off with your good knife!

Our belt sizes are based on a waist measurement, and should allow you some adjustment either way. An accurate measurement from where your belt will sit gives the best fit, but if using your pant sizing we recommend choosing a belt one size up.  Due to the lengths of hide usually available, our standard sizes are 30”-50”; please contact us for the availability of other sizes.
